This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the Eko mobile application. The App is ad-free, has no brand partnerships, and we do not use your data for tracking, profiling, or targeted advertising.

We collect only the minimum data necessary:

• Device and Technical Information:
  • Anonymized Device ID.
  • Crash reports and error logs.
  • Anonymized usage data (e.g., number of products scanned, feature usage).
• Scanned Product Data:
  • Barcodes of products you scan.
  • Associated product details (name, Green-Score®, environmental impact).
• Location Data:
  • Approximate location (country/region level only, derived from IP address or app settings) to tailor your experience with relevant regional product databases and accurate eco-scores. We do not collect or store precise geolocation (GPS).
• Usage Analytics:
  • Aggregated and anonymized statistics.

Scan history is stored locally on your device by default. The App is fully usable anonymously without an account.

2. How We Use Your Information

Data is used exclusively to:

• Provide core functionality (e.g., scanning and scoring).
• Improve the App (bug fixes, performance, features) via anonymized analytics and crash reports.
• Enhance your experience with region-specific product data.

No data is used for marketing or commercial profiling.

For EU/EEA users:

• Legitimate Interest: For technical operations, crash reporting, anonymized analytics, app improvement, and providing region-tailored experiences (we have conducted a Legitimate Interests Assessment balancing your rights against our needs for a functional, improved App).
